The Gabriela Mistral Primary School benefits from the implementation of plants in its walls and roofs

This school from Solana de los Barros (Badajoz, Spain) is already experiencing the positive effects of the green walls and roofs implemented under the framework of the LIFE-myBUILDINGisGREEN project. The temperature inside the classrooms has already decreased between 11 and 15 %.

Today, the Major of the province of Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, has officially inaugurated the nature-based solutions (NBS) implemented in the schools since December 2021.

Innovative project

Miguel Ángel Gallardo has explained that this initiative has certified that climate change can be faced through sustainable alternatives. He has valued the high grade of commitment of the local educational community with the project and regional strategy for adapting buildings to climate change.

The school Director, Antonia Montevirgen, has mentioned the building is open to everyone who wants to know more about the implemented NBS. In fact, after the official inauguration, there was a demonstrative workshop about the benefits and learnings around NBS.
